whoa. i guess that's why Bulgarians are not setting the international standard for great American pop music. Meanwhile, the brass band arrangement was awesome.
Bulgarian teenagers listen to a lot of different things. Metal is really popular, only teenagers listen to punk and hardcore, though the ska crowd is older. The girls who work at the hostel who are 20 listen to Joss Stone, Queen Latifa, Lauryn Hill, Christina Aguilera... on the streets and in shops, you hear a lot of band remixes of late 80's or early 90's pop. I heard Michael Jackson Bad album playing at the cafe today. Jazz is pretty big in Bulgaria, it seems. I think people are just trying to slowly embrace what's becoming available to them through the internet and what not. There seem a bit stuck in the 1980s though...
